« Patience Can Be a Virtue, Especially with SOA | Main | SOA Will Pave the Way to Business Process Outsourcing » October 24, 2006More Patience From a High Flier to SOA SOA is a multi-year journey, not an overnight sprint. In my last post, I described Commonwealth Bank's gradual, success-by-success approach to SOA. Along that same theme, British Airways (BA) also advises that wider use of its budding SOA could still be up to five years away. In this very brief summary, Paul Colby, CIO of BA, said the airline was using SOA around parts of its employee self-service staff portal, according to Paul Colby, CIO of BA. But before going deeper into SOA, the company will wait for standards and best practices to be solidified, he added. "If SOA in three to five years' time enables you to articulate that process design with your systems and enables you to change your systems with more flexibility, that's great... but I don't think anybody is anywhere near there."
